The time has come again: as of this morning, you can apply for Class 02 of the Prototype Fund. Until November 30, you have time to answer the 15 application questions – with up to €158,000 in funding from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research up for grabs. The Prototype Fund also offers coaching, consulting, and networking opportunities.
Who and what is funded?
As every time, we are interested in your creative software ideas in the public interest. Our funding priorities are software infrastructure and data security.
We can fund you if
- you are an individual developer or part of a team,
- your idea is a software project,
- you are of legal age, and
- you have a German tax number and a place of residence in Germany – teams can work across the EU if they establish a GbR (civil law partnership) based in Germany at the start of the funding period.
We would like to explicitly encourage all people from groups that have been underrepresented in software development to apply for funding. You can contact us at any time during the application period. Applications can be submitted in either German or English.
Because we believe that software should be sustainable, accessible, and adaptable, we only fund open-source software.
