Trend research results
Under the heading ‘More Diversity: Open Source for All!’, we investigated how diversity can support software development for the common good and how software can help to make diverse perspectives visible in society.
Different perspectives for successful software development
Diverse teams often work together more productively and, due to their different perspectives, align projects more closely with the needs of broad user groups. In order to seize this opportunity, a broad awareness of the problem and common forms of interaction are required, as well as role models, networking and further training opportunities for underrepresented groups.
Social diversity supported by software
Beyond supporting successful collaboration, software can also strengthen social diversity. Examples of this include software that helps to highlight the perspectives of less visible groups in society or to categorise and correct distorted data analyses.
You can find the detailed results in the trend report and in the evaluation report on funding round 3, which took place from September 2017 to February 2018.
