What is the project about?
BigBlueButton is the most established free software for online education and video conferencing. However, BigBlueButton currently lags behind its commercial competitors in terms of sound quality. This is where the BigBlueBetterAudio project comes in. It aims to improve the sound quality of BigBlueButton by analyzing, controlling, and enhancing the audio in real time using sophisticated digital signal processing algorithms. Improved sound quality not only enhances the user-friendliness of BigBlueButton, but also has a positive effect on participants' attention spans.
Which audience does the project address?
The project is aimed at anyone who already uses BigBlueButton, such as schools, universities, companies, NGOs, associations, etc. In addition, the aim is to increase the appeal of BigBlueButton and thus reach new target groups.
What is to be achieved?
The core component is the digital signal processing algorithm, which aims to improve the sound quality of speech. This algorithm is to be integrated into the client side of BigBlueButtons webRTC so that the servers are not subjected to additional load.
